Andrew Watkins

Andrew Watkins grew up in a family business environment, where every phone call to home was treated as a possible client call. This was excellent conditioning for Andrew’s strong work ethic and realistic approaches to commercial dealings in small- and medium-sized businesses.

Andrew studied nuts-and-bolts engineering at university, and hence is very comfortable absorbing detailed and complex issues as and when they might arise, but he also has a passion for foreign languages and actively uses this to communicate real-time in the real-world with real people from many different cultures.

Early in Andrew’s work career, he was employed by multinationals such as Amcor and Nestle, and has spent years working in a number of countries such as Japan and Russia. This has produced considerable experience in the manufacturing and FMCG sector, and he understands well the business owner’s cycle of fighting alligators while not being able to find time to drain the swamp.

Andrew returned to Australia from overseas in 2003 for family reasons and subsequently started an engineering consultancy which he continues currently. He now lives the dream of finding the right combination of work and family FUN, and he offers these FUN-damentals as extra bonuses for being involved in a coaching relationship.

Andrew’s experiences include four years working from a Business Incubator building in Melbourne, where up to 100 small businesses have started-up during that time. Many of those businesses have flourished with the right care and attention, and the occasional few have died of natural causes. These are all good experiences to draw from, especially for any business owner keen to improve their working assets. Andrew likes to connect with like-minded individuals who recognize some of their strengths (or weaknesses) and who want to take their business up a few levels…..but passion is a pre-requisite!!
