ABOUT US – THE BUSINESS, THE TEAM, THE COACHING

I started the business in 2006 after a career in sales in the IT and Telecommunications industry. I was a suit. I didn’t really like it, too many wankers, too much bullshit. I wanted to work with real, decent people instead of suits. I do miss the expense account though 🙂

This business is on the same growth journey I’ll take you on. It started just as me, grew, hired admin help (and had a massive hiccup on the way – I’ll tell you over a beer), got a business coach (I know, right! Taki Moore, business coach for business coaches), specialized on his advice (“choose people you like working with and who got good results”). I choose trades business.

We’re building the same machines we’re asking you to build:

A Marketing Machine – to FIND customers.

It’s not the same as for a trade business – we’re focused on video and giving you lots of our knowledge so you can get a feel for me and for the coaching.

A Sales Machine – to WIN customers.

It’s a structured process with clear steps (like I’ll get you to build).

  • A 10-minute chat so we don’t waste much time if we’re not a good fit.
  • A 1 hour strategy session so you get a proper feel for coaching and so I can properly assess if my program is right for you.
  • Then a decision.

A Operations Machine – to DO the coaching.

You’ll get time with me, training videos on specific topics so you can learn the framework at your own speed, a strategy, private group access and one on-one coaching.

We’re using all the tools we can to help you make the changes that make the money.

A Back Office Machine – to DO the admin

Not my strength, a team of 3 smart women run the back office. You’ll meet them in a minute. They do a great job using automation, managing our obligations, our work, and our money just like your admin team will for you.

We Manage Me – to make me as EFFECTIVE as possible.

I’m good at coaching, teaching and building the programs. The rest, not so much. We play to my strengths and my team play to theirs. They manage me to make sure I do what’s needed.

I’m in Byron Bay, Lindsey is in Sydney and Venus and Melca live in the Philippines. We talk daily, document everything and we try to stay true to our values.

OUR GIVING

I read once that people are motivated at work by being able to make a contribution to something bigger – to the team, each other and the business – but also to the wider community.

We give a little to charity every time we invoice you and we all
do some voluntary work on Small Fish’s time. We like it.

We’re no longer “Jon Dale, Business Coach for Tradies and Builders”, Small Fish Business Coaching (we’re still for Small Fishes though) has grown into a business, just like you and your business is growing. There are now people in their jobs doing a good job and (I hope) enjoying their jobs.

Remember, I’m building and growing my business, just like you’re building yours – building systems and structure and building a team. Your team is important to your success and building a team and a business that looks after them as well as you is one of the great joys of being in business.

ABOUT THE COACHING

The coaching is great, of course (I would say that). The best way to learn about it and me is to book a 10-minute chat or come to the Quarterly Intensive as a guest.

Here’s the short version.

It’s about change – changing your business from what it is now to what you want it to be (as long as you want it to be bigger, more profitable , structured and systematised).

  • It’s about making a plan – then implementing it.
  • It’s about learning new tricks – learning business quickly and learning just the bits you need.
  • It’s about becoming a better business person.
  • It’s about feeling more confident.
  • It’s about the framework that will build you a successful trade business
