Scaling means growing revenue and profit without growing your hours. Not just more jobs. More jobs, done at proper margins, by a team that does not need you on every site. The business gets bigger while your day to day involvement gets smaller.
Why can you not scale by just working harder?

Nearly every scaling problem shows up in the numbers first. Cost of labour is wrong, utilisation is low, or prices have not kept up with the work you are doing now. Fix that and the same crew on the same jobs makes real money.
Mike, a sparky, had his software saying jobs were profitable and his P and L saying otherwise. His labour cost was set too low and he was putting four blokes on jobs that used to take two. Fixed costings and scheduling, then 20k net a month on top of his wage, three months running.
Eddie, in waterproofing, had the same labour cost problem plus pricing that had not kept up after he shifted from commercial to smaller construction work. Prices up 30 to 40 per cent with no pushback, then 170k in a month with 50k net.

How long does it take to scale a trade business?
Quick wins come within weeks once pricing and variations are tightened. The bigger shift, where the business runs without you in the guts of it, takes six to twelve months of building systems and a team.
Do I need a coach who has been a tradie?
No, but they have to understand trade reality. Quoting, variations, labour recovery, scheduling and cash flow. If they only speak corporate, you will spend half your time translating your world for them.
Does coaching work if I am already busy?
Busy is not the same as profitable. Flat out and skint is the most common reason tradies call me. The work is already there, so the fix is in how it is priced, run and paid for.
