Reflect, Refresh, Refocus & Recommit Holiday HomeworkPart 1

This is not compulsory, of course, and you can have a lot of holidays, a few holidays, or no holidays at all.

The end of the year is a good time for reflection and for thinking about what you want for the year ahead.

Since you’ll probably be thinking about that anyway, I’ve made a guided version of that process.

You’ve got a worksheet to print out, and you can watch this video on YouTube or listen to the podcast while you’re walking or driving.

My hope and suggestion is that you listen and think about it in your own time and complete the worksheet along the way.

I hope you enjoy it.

We’ll look at your decisions and plans in January.

Reflect

Remember the importance of noting your achievements and progress.

So, what’s gone well or improved this year?

What are your wins? Achievements?

What have you improved, even a bit?

What progress have you made?

Let’s think about some of the things we are trying to improve with our coaching.

How are these things compared to a year ago?

How’s the money?

  • Revenue
  • Gross margins
  • Net margin
  • Cash flow
  • Debt levels

How’s your stress? (Control – feeling of being in control of the situation)

How’s the organization functioning?

How are your working hours? And those of your team?

Now, around the triangle: Have these progressed or improved?

  • Marketing
  • Sales
  • Operations
  • The Back Office
  • You
  • Your Team

What unfinished projects are there?

What did you hope to do this year that you didn’t get to?

Refocus

If you spend a little bit of time reflecting on how 2024 went, you might next think about how you want 2025 to go.

You’ve got your 3-year vision statement. Have a look at it (again) and re-engage with it. Is it still what you want?

Does any of it need updating or re-doing?

(Are you closer to it than when you wrote it?)

I’m going to ask you to do 2 things:

  1. Make a vision board for 3 years out (or so).
  2. Make one for 2025 — What do you want to achieve (and think is realistic) in 2025?

Have a bit of fun with it — I called it a funsheet on purpose. You can do it on your own or with your partner.

What do you want long-term?

Money, toys, holidays, experiences, situations for you, your family, your business, your team.

And the same for 2025.

Your vision board: I reckon write words on the funsheet and go and cut out (or print out) pictures if you want to.

And how do you want 2025 to be different?

  • Money
  • Hours
  • Stress
  • Holidays
  • Team
  • Triangle
  • Revenue, GM, NM, Cash Flow, Debt

That’s the homework (holiday fun?)

What’s coming:

  • January: Recommit to these and reset priorities
    • Behaviors
    • Commitments (to yourself)
