Hey, its Jon again. I’ve had a bit of fun (haven’t I?) with the shark theme. Sharks taking bites out of your margins and leaving you with a surfboard which looks like a fish bone with no meat left on it.

It’s no fun when when you are losing margins and it’s no fun when you do a project or a job or come to the end of the year and realised that you didn’t make much profit. I have a client, I’m not going to mention his name because it would embarrass him, but he’s turning over 7 or 8 million dollars and he allowed enough of the Sharks to take bites out of his margins last year that he made a two-thousand-dollar loss.

He should have made quite significant money and he didn’t. And that’s distressing. It was distressing for him and it was distressing for me. You know and I consider him one of my more capable and thoughtful and forward-thinking clients and yet that happened to him. So you know, it can happen to anybody. It’s easy to make these mistakes and you don’t have to be an idiot to make them. I reckon almost everybody is making at least three or four of the mistakes that I’ll tell you about in that Margin Maximiser workshop.

Now my client, we’ve started fixing the mistakes, we started fixing the issues in his business and he’s already starting to see the improvements starting to flow through to his bottom line. So I want to reassure you know, you can change… you can change things, you can take steps to change and they do flow through into your business and into your wallet.

My friend is pissed off that he made the mistakes but he’s happy now that it’s making a difference in him. The same is true for you. You can do the same.

The first step is to learn what the mistakes are, what those sharks are.

The second step is to learn what to do about them. I can help you with that in the Margin Maximiser workshop.

The third step of course is to get on and make the actual changes. I won’t do that in the workshop, you’re gonna have to do that when you go home.
