One Thing You Should Do Over the Christmas Break

Hey there! Jon here. This is a video about the one thing I’d like you to think about doing over the Christmas break. I’m not a big fan of holiday homework or too much work during the holiday. I think you need rest. I think life’s about more than work. But if you get some spare time and most of us do, we think about our business. There’s one thing I want you to do that I think will help next year.

And I’m Jon of course. I’m from Small Fish Business Coaching. I run a coaching program for the owners of trades businesses called the “Tradies Toolbox” Coaching Program. This is a Tradies Toolbox Tip. It’s the Christmas Break tip.

Okay, so the one thing I want to you do, it’s really two things, I want you to look back at last year and I want you to look forward to next year. They’re really simple, basic stuff, I’m not really trying to start and think, do you hear? Why won’t you look back at last year compare where your business is now to where it was at this time last year and ask yourself, have I made any progress? Am I getting towards where I want to go? Or you know, did I get distracted along the way, fighting all those fires, dealing with this shitfight that we deal with all the time. Did you make a plan? Did you write it down? Did you manage to get any of the things in that plan done? Or like I say, did you get caught up in the hurly-burly?

When you’ve had that little thought, or when you think about how you want your business to be different next year, in December, any years time, what you want to be different and think about, you know, how much more money you want to be making? How much more revenue and profit? How hard you want to be working? What you want your reputation to be like? What you want the people who work for you to feel like? How in control and how stressed you want to be or prepared to accept? And how systematized and smoothly operating you want things to be?

And there they are, the cues we like to look for in the business coaching, now when you’ve done that, I want you to think about what you have to do in order to get there. In order to make that beautiful business and write them down. This is, you know, this isn’t rocket science. Look, think about where you want to go. Think about how to get there. Write them both down. Put it in the drawer. Pull it out again at easter and have another look. The simple fact, the process of doing that, will help you focus on doing those things. That won’t be any surprise to you when I say that, that’s what we do with business coaching, we start by making a business plan, we focus on the place we want to go and get some clarity on that, and then we write down what we need to do to get there, and we make sure we do some of those things.

Look, if that’s appealing to you and you’ve made your plan, and you want to review with me, feel free to give me a call. Otherwise, Merry Christmas and perhaps, I’ll see you next year!
